Lab Training by Self Defense Instructor
Cam's father, Michael Bolles, is the owner and head instructor of Krav Maga of Chandler (Chandler is a suburb of nearby Phoenix, Arizona). He offered to introduce us to Krav Maga, a practical street self-defense system that is designed to be relatively quick and easy to learn. It is widely considered the most effective type of martial art because it is all martial, no art. There are no tournaments; all techniques are designed in a way that mitigates size and strength differences. Essentially, everything in the system has to work for the smallest person defending against the largest person.
Michael said: "It works so well because it is based on the body’s natural instincts, is based on simple principles, and is oriented for survival as opposed to sport. The idea has always been that someone who is well-trained is less likely to be attacked and more likely to be able to “walk in peace” throughout their life." We are grateful to Michael Bolles that we can add to skills wrestling with attackers in addition to wrestling with 60 Hz noise, Matlab, and Bayesian statistics.
